Brief

ROBERT ‘ROBBIE’ SARGENT
Originally from Zimbabwe, Robbie was brought up on a farm with a love for the outdoors, sport and a keen sense for adventure. His hobbies also include golf and darts but his favorite from a young age was and always has been fishing, whether it’s fresh water or deep sea. After school, he moved to South Africa to play professional rugby, but it was not long before he decided on it being an unlikely permanent career choice. He turned towards scuba diving instead, despite the cold waters of Cape Town and worked his way up to becoming an instructor. After a few years of this, Robbie grew keen to search for warmer water to dive in and accepted a job in Raja Ampat, Indonesia. The travel bug set in, Captain’s ticket in hand and many nautical miles later, there is nothing that Robbie loves more than finding new places to have fun in, both above and under the water.

SOFIA ‘SOFIE’ RIBEIRO
Born and raised in the landlocked country of Zimbabwe, Sofia’s love for water originated whilst growing up as a national swimmer and waterpolo player. Working throughout studying within restaurants and catering, it gave her an opportunity to build up experience in hospitality, develop professionalism within the service industry but most of all appreciate different cuisines. After graduating from University of Cape Town, South Africa with a Social Science degree, Sofia realized she wasn’t motivated towards a formal office setting and sought after a career in which she could combine her love of travel with learning new skills. Discovering the world of yachting she has since worked in the Mediterranean, Australia, Indonesia, Florida and the Caribbean. Being able to explore new places and gain a passion for cooking along the way has been a dream realized.

Robbie and Sofie met in Singapore, soon found common ground of similar roots and have been working together within the industry since then for the last 5 years. Their combined passion for food, travel and most of all the ocean has brought them together to love what they do. They have been lucky enough to get to know some extraordinary, remote locations around the world but also appreciate being able to share time with family and friends in their home country, Zimbabwe.

As a team, they love being able to entertain, share stories and meet new people to learn theirs. Robbie and Sofie are keen on keeping charters light-hearted while making it a priority to go above and beyond so that their guests always have an adventure to remember.

KIRSTIN KLOPPERS
Kirsten, a native of South Africa, grew up enjoying the pleasant climate and taking part in various outdoor activities, such as photography, swimming, and showjumping. She excelled in golf and earned several titles and a place on provincial teams before scuba diving captured her imagination during her first dive in the ocean. She attended the University of Johannesburg where her studies in Industrial Design deepened her appreciation of the ocean ecosystem and sparked a passion for developing projects to address ocean conservation. As her interest in photography shifted to the underwater world, she found herself drawn to a non-traditional career and pursued full-time work in diving and sailing. She honed her skills in Tuna fishing and spearfishing while working for a fishing charter company in Cape Town. Today, her love for the ocean and marine life remains one of her greatest passions.

How would you qualify skipper:
Robbie is a dedicated, experienced and well education captain. Not only did he ensure our safety, he ensured we had fun! He was an excellent teacher of all things water sports, giving detailed lessons on how to best snorkel and use the efoils/sea bobs. His demonstrations were key to our success! We always found fun things to do on and about the yacht. Robbie is a natural leader. He is respected by the crew and in turn is respectful to the crew. Robbie has the keen ability to anticipate our needs. He is extremely knowledgeable the vessel and of the British Virgin Islands. He was our private guide of the seas - Thank you Robbie!

How would you qualify rest of the crew:
Robbie, Sofie, and Kristin's attention to detail and elite level of service created a once in a lifetime leisure experience for our group. From the champagne welcome, through the guided yacht tour, to the most ideal itinerary, they far exceeded our expectations. Every day was met with great enthusiasm. They are a well-connected team who work together seamlessly.

How would you qualify the yacht (comfort, features, general maintenance, etc):
C'est la Vie feels spacious, yet private - best of both worlds. One of the reasons we selected this yacht was the various group seating/lounging spaces. Our group of 6 enjoyed dining together in both the main deck dining area, and also the roof top area. The roof top area was ideal for happy hour/sunsets and to indulge in the surprise drink of the day created for us by the crew. We also enjoyed laying on the large couch/lounge (upper) area while motoring between islands. We dined in several spots together on the yacht. The list goes on and on. The front deck was used as a spectacular dance floor! The electronics/speakers were perfect for playing our favorite playlists - and we also enjoyed the playlists created by the crew - well done! The yacht offers numerous areas for sun lovers and also for the shade lovers. The living room/inside main cabin is well appointed, and large enough for our group of 6. After one soggy rain day, we hosted movie night in this space utilizing the large screen television that drops down from the ceiling. When the day was done we all enjoyed a bit of quiet and privacy in our queen cabins, with attached baths. Everything on this yacht was pristine and in good working order. It was apparent that the crew treated this vessel with much care and a white glove.

How would you qualify the itinerary:
Our experienced crew did all the planning to ensure the most ideal stops possible. We provided a few preferred destinations pre-trip, and the crew enhanced based on their experience/knowledge, our preferences/likes and of course weather/winds, etc. Each morning after breakfast we attended "Storytime with Robbie" as our captain walked us through our plan for the day, while using a map to show us where we'd been and where we were going. Every day was a welcomed surprise! Our group felt like excited children again, coming out to see what Santa left Christmas morning - much talk and lively speculation each evening about potential destinations next day. In a life full of meetings, timelines, and structure we fully appreciated these moments of whimsy and surprise! Our itinerary included various activity based stops such as the Baths where Captain Robbie gave us a guided tour and also pointed out the best photo stops. We also had meal/shopping stops. Reservations were made for us as needed - never having to wait for a table. (we elected to have a few meals ashore) Some stops were at leisure, beach bar-hopping style. Robbie always giving us an overview of bars/stops on the island, based on our preferences. It was a perfect blend of planned and spontaneous days! For the sea turtle lovers and scuba learners in our group, special stops were selected to dive and also see marine life. Spectacular! This crew is committed to giving a personalized and unique experience.

How would you qualify the sports and leisure activities/equipment on board:
Another main reason we selected this yacht was the multitude of water activities on board. Our group of 6 had different levels of activity comforts. Some of the easier options included snorkel, paddle board or simply having cocktails on the floating dock - use of the giant bean bags for lounging waterside. Others preferred the next-level power sea-bob, or the efoils experience. Some guests also enjoyed Scuba, and 2 guests became certified during the trip. Having a crew of 3, and crew being scuba certified, helped tremendously for a group this large. During scuba lessons, the remaining guests had full service on the yacht.

How would you qualify the food and drinks:
Sofie is delightful while also being a masterful and creative chef, working in small quarters. Pure magic happens below deck! To our delight her galley has a little window through which we would call to her while we swam about - making sure she didn't work too hard. So much fun!! It is immediately evident that she truly loves people and loves to cook and care for others. All of our special requests were met and exceeded based on our pre-trip preferences. Sofie personally walked through my food restrictions (required due to a health condition) during the pre-trip call to ensure she fully understood, as my list is unfortunately long. My main request was to not deprive the other guest of these foods, only my plate. Sofie delivered successfully the entire week. If you have restrictions, you'll know how reassuring it is to sit down to a plate made by someone else and know that it safe to eat. I cannot thank Sofie enough for her attention to detail in this matter as it truly can be a day-ender for me if not addressed properly. We especially enjoyed Sofie's constant smile and warm disposition. Her meals are a culinary delight, prepared especially for us from behind the magical mirrored galley door. We had a lot of fun guessing what the next meal might be and made a game of not "peeking" into the galley to survey the area for clues. One of our favorite activities was the big reveal each meal. The plates being delivered to the table, and Sofie explaining in delicious detail what we were preparing to eat. Cheering and clapping always ensued!! We also enjoyed perfectly paired evening appetizers with a unique drinks of the day during the roof-top happy hour. Special call out to the pre-planned 50th birthday dinner party for one of our charter guests. Special meal made, special decorations, a golden crown for him adorned at dinner, twinkle lights, and a dance party on the front deck after! Not to mention instead of a dinner party only, the crew modified the itinerary to give him an entire (surprise) day of it, waking up at his favorite island! Above and beyond always!

How would you qualify the entire experience of your trip:
This trip exceeded our expectations!
